swimming around in my head

There are a lot of issues out there right now that make me wonder about life. Two of those in particular are the organic/non-organic debate and also recently artificial sweeteners. I go back and forth between "it's no big deal" and "it's a big deal." I am getting ready to delve into two books right now: Real Food and The Untold Story of Milk. I'm sure I'll have some more "food for thought" after I finish these. One of the interesting things about blogs is reading comments of people who have strong opinions about these issues. Unlike me at this point, who can't get on one side of the fence or the other on most things.

Michelle! You commented on my blog a looooong time ago and I never responded back! Of course I know who you are, and I really enjoy reading your blog and looking at the pictures of your cute kids.

As for your post, I go back and forth on those issues too. For now (and it might be because I don't have eating kids yet) I usually take the stance of "MSG hasn't killed me yet, why worry now?" But I'll probably change my tune and start looking at that stuff more seriously when baby Anja is eating real stuff.

Hope you're all doing well and enjoying this great weather!

I feel the same way about organic food. I have heard that the best places to start organic are dairy products and meat. I try to buy organic bananas too when I can find them because the skin is so porous. I have started buying free-range eggs now. Slowly but surely. My big thing is that I try not to buy anything with high fructose corn syrup.

Another thing to think about are the products we use on our kids. Here is a website you should check out.

Last summer, I started to use California Baby sunscreen for the kids (the problem is that it is more than double the price of other sunscreens!). I just started using the green cleaning cleansers too for the house. I just try to make small changes here and there.
