I am not sure I'll ever be eating store bought strawberry jam again! It is so tasty! Anyone know of a good local raspberry picking farm? I've checked the Indiana u-pick website and there doesn't seem to be much close by.
Meg- I used the recipe in the Sure Jell pectin because I was a little afraid to try any variance after all that work picking and hulling and washing and boiling. Today I had a different variety of pectin (Ball, I think)and it had a different recipe that included apple juice and less sugar, but it made a lot less jars (6 vs. almost 10). I haven't tried any of the new stuff yet, but I'll let you know. BTW, I went to Annie's Orchard today and LOVED IT!
If you're gonna visit SE Michigan anytime this summer or fall, there's a great u-pick organic raspberry farm called Makielski's on the south side of Ann Arbor. They have them July-October.

I've been wondering... do the strawberries always float to the top of the jam???

The berries were floating because it was still hot out of the canner. Once they cooled, they seemed to settle.
